About Us
Roots for Development (RD) is a non-governmental organization founded in 2021 by a group of likeminded professionals with experience in various sectors.
It was established to advance the role of women and young people in development by providing them with skills, tools and opportunities that can meaningfully effect change in their communities.
RD is registered by the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) in the Republic of South Sudan as a national organization under Chapter 3, Section 10 of the NGOs Act, 2016. It is a partner of the Women’s Education Partnership (WEP), a UK registered Charity organization and an anchor of the Women Higher Education scholarship in South Sudan.
RD is working in partnership with Women Education Partnership (WEP), a registered charity 1151145 in the UK. With the financial support from WEP UK, we are currently sponsoring 22 women and girls who are enrolled for certificate, diploma and bachelor degree programs in various colleges and universities recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education in South Sudan.
The support is intended for women and girls from disadvantaged backgrounds including returnees, refugees, persons with disabilities, single mothers and orphans.

Our strategic objectives

To facilitate women and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to achieve their educational goals.

To promote and enhance a sustainable livelihood approaches to enable women and young people to be less dependent and more self-reliant through economic and social empowerment

To enhance access to sexual and reproductive health through the promotion of ethical and human-rights-based approach.
4.
To support and promote a community-driven approaches to development through strengthening local capacity in order to improve the quality of life in communities affected by natural and manmade disasters.

To enhance climate change resilience in communities through support to mitigation and adaptation initiatives
